Start with these fundamentals
Use this sequence as a learning checklist. Each step should lead to practical work you can review and improve, not just a tutorial watched once.
A useful beginner project
Composite a rendered object into filmed footage and show a clear breakdown.
Keep original source files and a short explanation of your process. Evaluate whether you can repeat the technique on a new brief without following the original tutorial step by step.
How to compare tools and classes
Node-based workflows differ from layer-based workflows; learn why both can be useful.
Ask any training provider about tool version, device access, licensing, instructor feedback and real portfolio outcomes. An application certificate by itself is not proof of creative competence.
Go beyond the interface
A readable node graph helps a compositor explain where an image came from and how it was changed. Inspect intermediate results rather than treating the final viewer as the only checkpoint.
A repeatable skills check
Integrate one permitted element with a simple plate. Label inputs and major operations, compare edge and color behavior, and produce a before-and-after breakdown with an organized script. Identify the parts that need more learning.
